7 Travel Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

Explore the world with travel podcasts

Podcasts have become extremely popular in recent years, especially in the travel niche. And who doesn’t love to travel?

According to Podcast Industry Insights, there are 2.4 million podcasts on Apple Podcasts, the No. 1 podcast app. Places & Travel falls under Society & Culture category, which claims the highest number of shows and level of engagement. Clearly, all of us are looking for an escape, especially with limited travel options because of the pandemic.

There are many amazing travel podcasts that can transport you to your favourite destination. You can find unique travel stories, helpful tips, information on creating a travel lifestyle, and inspiration to plan your next trip.

We love travel podcasts and often find inspiration in others’ stories. So here is a list of the seven best travel podcasts you can listen to.

The Travel Diaries is a weekly British podcast. The host is a journalist, Holly Rubenstein. Holly talks to a special guest about their adventures around the world, and the travel experiences and destinations that have shaped their lives. The show transports you to exotic places as the famous guests take you on a journey through their life’s travel diaries: from their earliest childhood travel memory to their all time favourite destination, their hidden gem recommendation, and what’s at the top of their bucket list.

Betty in the Sky with a Suitcase is an airline and travel podcast with funny stories from the airplane and around the world. Through her anonymous broadcasts, a glamorous international flight attendant describes her encounters with characters 30,000 feet above earth. Under the pseudonym Betty Thesky, the show’s host is a veteran of the sky with old-school style. You can get practical advice, like how to beat jet lag, but you’ll stay for her tales from the sky.

Armchair Explorer is an established travel podcast with a simple philosophy: the best travel stories are told from the road. Each episode is cut documentary style and set to music and cinematic effects to create an immersive storytelling experience. The host, Aron Miller, is an award winning journalist – “Best Travel Podcasts 2020” – The Guardian; “Thrilling Stuff” – Sunday Times; “Ear Candy for Listeners” – Washington Post.

Music Planet: Road Trip

The sound of a place is an essential part of the travel experience. Rather than using words to transport you to another place, Music Planet: Road Trip does it through music. As a BBC Radio 3 production, you’re only getting the best quality recordings and audio.

JUMP Podcast sends one clear message: if you want adventure, you have to take the jump. Through a mix of guest stories, solo episodes and often raw and personal accounts with host Traveling Jackie, JUMP explores travel, adventure, and lifestyle in ways meant to motivate you to get out and see the world. The show is a source of travel advice and inspiration.

The Thought Card is hosted by Danielle Desir. This podcast focuses on world travel, paying off debt, and building wealth. Danielle gives her audience the confidence to make smart financial decisions that will allow them to accomplish both their travel and financial goals.

This podcast is hosted by Jet Set Lisette, an award-winning travel expert and host. Lisette interviews amazing and inspiring women who have found creative ways to travel the world. Their inspiring stories and experiences provide helpful tips and resources, and practical advice for making dream travel a reality.
