Hi, we’re Maja and Jelena, sisters and founders of My Next Pin, a luxury female travel blog.
My Next Pin is a luxury female travel blog featuring travel guides + lifestyle insights inspired by our experiences.
After visiting six continents and over 100 countries in the last ten years, we have created a digital destination for discerning female travelers.
Travel has always been a huge part of our lives. Here is our story before embarking on this new journey and becoming full-time travel bloggers.
We are originally from North Macedonia (a small country in Southeastern Europe), but we live on opposite sides of the world, one in Skopje and one in Seattle.
Living in a small country, we have crossed borders many times as children, but our first long-distance journey was to Nashville, TN, for a student exchange program, where we graduated high school in 2004.
The next destination was New York State, awfully close to the Big Apple, where we spent four incredible years attending SUNY New Paltz.
Soon after graduation, in 2010, we started our career journey in two different countries in the Middle East. New jobs separated us for the first time, but Qatar and Dubai are one short flight away.
Frequent traveling became our new regular. And what can be better than that?!?! The whole purpose of traveling is to see someone or learn something. So, we decided to combine those two.
Visiting new places and experiencing new cultures is the best gift that money can buy.
We have discovered how beautiful the world is, and traveling has strengthened our relationship. In the last ten years, we have visited over 100 countries worldwide.
From Safari Rides in Johannesburg; gorgeous sunsets in the Maldives and Seychelles; dressing up in Native South Korean attire while visiting their most beautiful temples; sipping Brut while enjoying delicious Laduree on Champs Elysees; shopping in Milan; riding on the craziest catapult in New Zeland; petting the beautiful kangaroos and koalas in Australia; seeing the rare red pandas in China; climbing the big Great Wall… and so much more.
In 2018 life brought another change.
Our point of origin became a little further apart than 30 min flight.
Jelena married and moved to Seattle, and Maja returned to Macedonia.
Our new lives brought in more responsibilities, less free time, and more FaceTime. Along with farther distance, things became more challenging and required more planning.
The pandemic happened while we were settling into the new roles. Life and the travel restrictions made our plans mission impossible. But we missed each other.
In times like this, we understand more than ever the significance of being able to board a plane, boat, or train and get to your loved ones.
The saying goes: “It’s good to know that the ones you love will always be in your heart, and if you are very lucky, only a plane ride away.”
The pandemic has been hard on everyone, and we are incredibly grateful for staying safe.
Sooo, without much planning or thinking, we reunited in April 2020 in Seattle!

The reunion brought this fantastic idea to start a luxury travel blog and help other women fulfill their bucket lists and plan their first trip abroad. We will share all travel experiences, adventures from each travel destination, lifestyle, and our passion for charity work with all of you.
We have traveled the world! And we want to keep traveling! We love the journey as much as the destination. Planting roots at a certain destination and calling it home gives you stability, structure, and safety. But that doesn’t mean you should stop exploring. We have learned that there can be more than one place that you can call home. Incorporating travel into your lifestyle broadens the mind and feeds the soul.
We love our new online full time job. Even though we are physically apart, it is something that is bringing us together. And we love that we have become a part of a new community of travel blogs.
