The best place to stay in Bratislava
This article is about a luxury weekend stay at Grand Hotel River Park, the best place to stay in Bratislava.
Just last weekend, I visited Bratislava for the first time. And while all my travel articles revolve around destinations, this one is about the stay. So, let me share my experience of spending a luxury weekend at the Grand Hotel River Park, part of the Luxury Collection by Marriott.
Luxury weekend at Grand Hotel River Park in Bratislava
This large, luxurious, contemporary urban hotel is pristinely situated on the shores of Europe’s famed Danube River. The hotel is a major part of the chic, upscale River Park complex opened in 2009, which is filled with luxury condos, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and contemporary offices.
Originally a Kempinski Hotel, Grand River Park Hotel became part of the Marriott Luxury Collection in 2015. The chic urban complex is located on the outskirts of central Bratislava.
The Grand Hotel River Park can be reached by many means of transportation: Bratislava and Vienna international airports, a rooftop heliport, a private river pier, and the Danube cycle path.

The Hotel
When picking a hotel, location is everything.
The Grand Hotel River Park boasts an incredible location right on the banks of the Danube, offering gorgeous views over the river and the city. Even though it is not in the Old Town of Bratislava, the city is small enough to reach the center from the hotel in a 15-minute walk, which I highly recommend because the walking path along the Danube is beautiful.
There is also a tram stop right next to the hotel that will take you to the Old Town in no time.
The hotel doesn’t look appealing from the outside and is more like a business center. However, once you step inside, you feel comfortable and cozy thanks to the tasteful decoration and the friendly staff!
The Executive Suite
I booked the Executive room on the 11th floor for my luxury weekend. You can choose between a river or a castle hill view. The room features a king-size bed, a large bathroom, and fantastic views of the Danube. This booking also includes free access to the gym, spa access at a discounted price, and access to the Grand Living Room area with snacks and several beverage options.
This was perfect for my solo trip to Bratislava. And if you’re going on a romantic weekend getaway, you can splurge even further and book the beautiful Danube Suite, one of the best rooms at the Grand River Park Hotel!
The incredibly spacious marble bathroom has both a bathtub and a shower, and it comes with excellent spa-quality cosmetics.
Modern and elegant, it was the perfect place to spend a luxury weekend in Bratislava!
The food
I didn’t have time to check out the Riverbank restaurant, but I loved the in-room dining, which was excellent! Breakfast, in particular, was terrific!
The Riverbank Restaurant and the Lobby Lounge include an outdoor dining experience on the terrace with a river promenade view.
The spa
The Zion Spa Luxury is located on the top floor of the Grand Hotel River Park, which is 1,500 square meters. It contains wellness and fitness areas, including a swimming pool, two jacuzzis, and three saunas. If you book a suite, you get complimentary access to the spa area. If not, you need to pay extra to get in.
I went to the spa twice, in the morning and evening, and both were excellent! In the morning, it was almost empty, and it was very relaxing to swim in the pool while checking out the killer views of the Danube from the massive windows. In the evening, the entire area is lit with dim light, and the pool changes color because of the fun colored lights inside!
Great service
Despite its austere outside look, the Grand Hotel River Park is a charming luxury hotel with delicious food and impeccable service.
The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, and the spa is incredible. It is the perfect place to stay if you have a business trip in Bratislava or want a romantic getaway with your loved one!
Visit Bratislava
Bratislava may be a small city, but it is full of charm and history. It’s an excellent weekend destination and definitely worth visiting.
Because it is not too touristy, it is also perfect for taking photos without people in them. Here are my top 10 Instagram spots in Bratislava!
