Friendsgiving Pre Cursor
It has been exactly 4 years, since I moved to the United States and started to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Personally, this holiday is my second favorite after Christmas. I love decorating our home, table and cooking delicious meals that I have “inherited” from my mother and mother in law’s cookbooks.
This year, my husband and I are hosting a special “Friendsgiving”, night of gratefulness that we are going to share with our closest friends.
Before that, however, we decided to “rehearse”, and make a feast, decorate our table, and give you guys that early “taste” of Thanksgiving.
My husband was in charge of the roast beef, as he is the master of making it. I helped with the baked potatoes and the green beans. I was thinking what wine pairs the best with dinner, and went for Chateau de Beaucastel (an elegant French red, from 2013), with notes of spices and cocoa, that simply melts in your mouth.
For our table decoration, in the middle we placed a beautiful centerpiece, a table wreath of artificial fall leaves with pumpkins and pinecones in between. I am usually not a big fan of artificial flowers, but I believe it’s quite all right to use artificial holiday decorations, especially if we decide to recycle them for next year.
Around our centerpiece I decided to place pumpkin spice miniature candles within adorable festive holders. That gave such a special touch to our setting, as it has that cozy fall vibe that we all love. For our silver wear, I got these adorable silverware holders.
Added to that, my husband brought me these gorgeous yellow and orange bouquet, and a larger decorative arrangement of dazzling red roses.
As our dinner was slowly cooking, I was preparing the finishing touches on our table.
By the time we started our dinner, the sun has set down. We cheered to life, health, family and friends, and better tomorrow for the whole world.
We enjoyed the delicious baked potatoes, halved and filled with sour cream and cheddar cheese, as the roast beef was melting in our mouths. I had to cheer one more time and say my grace for this wonderful dinner that my husband prepared for us.
Happy Thanksgiving Friends!
